Mud Pool

What is the mud pool

The mud pool is comprised of a natural bed of sulphur mud between 10-30 cm thick, penetrated by hot thermal mineral water springs, the water level above the mud being between 50-90 cm. The temperature of the mineral water varies between 39-40°C, and in places directly over the thermal springs it may sometimes reach even higher levels. The duration of the bath is strictly individualised, lasting between 5-10 minutes. The treatment ends with a shower and a 15-minute dry wrap.

How the mud pool helps

During treatment, the heat from the mud and thermal water helps the blood vessels dilate, reducing blood pressure and relaxing the muscles. Additionally, the sulphur and minerals are also absorbed through the skin, where they inhibit the degradation of elastin and collagen in the cartilages, sinews and connective tissues. It is possible to stand, slowly walk, sit or even conduct gentle joint mobility exercises whilst in the pool.

Mud Pool

  • What it is

A warm, full-body immersion in mineral-rich thermal peloid (natural healing mud). The dense, heat-retaining mud envelops the joints, gently raising skin temperature while trace minerals are drawn across the skin — a single session usually lasts 15–20 minutes, followed by a rinse and rest.

  • Who it's for

Suited to guests with chronic joint and muscular complaints, particularly osteoarthritis, back pain and stiffness. Each course is prescribed by our resident spa physician following the entry medical examination.

  • Expected results

Many guests report eased joint stiffness, reduced muscular tension and improved mobility. Benefits tend to build gradually over a course of 6–10 sessions taken during a healing stay rather than after a single visit.
