Treatment at a glance

H₂S sulphur mineral baths

  • What it is

Immersion in Smrdáky's hydrogen-sulphide (H₂S) mineral water — among the strongest sulphur waters in Europe. A supervised balneotherapy bath used mainly for chronic skin disease and sulphur-responsive joint conditions.

  • Who it's for

Guests with chronic plaque psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriatic arthritis and other sulphur-responsive skin and joint conditions.

  • Expected results

Calmer, less scaly and less itchy skin and eased joint discomfort that build over a course of baths under dermatological supervision.

How H₂S sulphur baths work

Smrdáky's water carries an unusually high concentration of dissolved hydrogen sulphide (H₂S). During a bath, sulphur compounds are absorbed through the skin.

Sulphur supports the skin's natural renewal, has a keratolytic (scale-softening) and anti-inflammatory action, and calms the overactive immune response behind psoriasis and eczema. Combined with warmth, this soothes irritated skin and eases associated joint inflammation.

  1. Dermatology consultation

The resident physician assesses your skin, confirms suitability and sets bath concentration, temperature and duration.

  2. The sulphur bath

    Duration:20 min

You bathe in warm H₂S mineral water under supervision, allowing sulphur to act on the skin.

  3. Rinse & rest

    Duration:15 min

A gentle rinse and short rest complete the treatment; emollients may be applied as advised.

A typical dermatological course is 12–18 baths over a 2–3 week stay.
