Drinking Cure

Mineral Drinking Cure

What is a mineral water drinking cure?

A drinking cure usually involves drinking a prescribed amount of mineral water several times a day. Usually one drinks before meals, as drinking on an empty stomach regulates the functions of the stomach and intestines better than drinking on a full stomach. In other cases, drinking mineral water with or after meals increases the body's absorption of necessary minerals. In general, you should drink between 20 and 30 ml of mineral water per kilogram of body weight per day.

How does a mineral water drinking cure work?

Various mineral waters gently regulate the function of the internal organs, especially the digestive tract and urinary tract. Each individual spring in our various health spas in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia has its own unique beneficial effects and advantages. Instructions on how to make the best use of this natural remedy can be found in the respective spa.

Access to mineral springs is usually free of charge. Outdoor cold springs are turned off in winter, while indoor drinking fountains are accessible all year round. A walk to a drinking water pavilion two or three times a day is a good, pleasant and light exercise as an optimal complement to your spa treatment. The spa town of Mariánské Lázně was founded at the beginning of the 19th century around the healing effects of its many medicinal mineral springs, which are world-famous for their curative effects on urinary tract diseases (namely stones) and metabolic disorders (especially disorders of the digestive tract). Even in the 21st century, drinking medicinal mineral water can be an important part of your spa stay, depending on your state of health. However, improper or excessive consumption of certain medicinal waters can result in various unwanted side effects, such as diarrhoea, belching, bloating, swollen legs and eyelids, and increased blood pressure. Therefore, your spa doctor, in combination with the indispensable observance of the correct drinking quantity, will advise you on which healing spring is best suited for your health condition.

Mineral Drinking Cure

  • What it is

A prescribed drinking course in which you take measured portions of natural mineral water, drawn fresh from our springs and often served gently warmed, at set times before meals. The water is sipped slowly from a spa drinking cup over a course of days.

  • Who it's for

Suited to guests with chronic digestive, metabolic or urinary-tract complaints, such as sluggish digestion, mild gastritis or a tendency to kidney stones. The spring, daily dose and timing are set by our spa physician after your entry examination.
